Omega is a true pioneer within the watch industry. Its achievements have ventured below the surface of the ocean and beyond the earth’s atmosphere, taking by storm the sea, the land, the sky and space. Its unmatched passion for exploration is perpetuated by the launch of the Skywalker series. This uniquely functional and attractive collection includes two distinctive designs- the classic Skywalker X-33 and the Solar Impulse Special Edition. Both represent a natural extension of the brand’s legacy in space.

Believe it or not, the Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 is a spectacular professional instrument designed for space explorers. Still, this can’t stop watches passionate people from acquiring one with the purpose of indulging their personal style cravings. Launched in 1998, the X-33 model has made a mark on the entire watch industry. Boosted by a high quality quartz calibre, the timepiece was constructed to serve the needs of astronauts and scientists who appreciate a state of the art time keeping device that offers a wide set of functions.

When Omega first created the Skywalker X-33 it developed it following the specific instructions of cosmonauts, pilots and explorers who needed a reliable and complex timepiece for achieving incredible performances in their work. As a matter of fact, the watch was tested and approved by the European Space Agency(ESA) so that it could be included in all its missions.

The watch has a central opening that displays for its wearer a range of digital elements such as the time in maximum 3 different time zones, the perpetual calendar, the countdown functions and three alarms. This part is actually a liquid crystal display (LCD) that features grey segments over a black background. To offer improved legibility, the black dial is nicely contrasted by the white hour markers and indexes which are coated with Super-LumiNova. The vivid red central seconds hand also augments the readability. Besides the digital and analog displays supported by this revolutionary dial, the face of the watch also keeps a track of phase elapsed time and mission elapsed time. The very interesting thing about the watch is that the hands can be turned off to allow better reading of the digital display.

The Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 comes with a 45 mm case manufactured from grade 2 Titanium which has been very nicely brushed as to offer a rugged and sturdy look. To complete the design of the timepiece there are also a brushed winding crown and pushers. But what adds sophistication and complexity to the look of this amazing instrument is the ceramic bezel with its chromium nitride scale. On the 60 minutes indicator it features a luminescent white Super-LumiNova that glows brightly in the dark with a greenish light.

The bracelet is another proof of remarkable watchmaking skills. Manufactured from brushed grade 2 Titanium with grade 5 Titanium links, this very sturdy and comfortable band is fitted with a brushed fold-over clasp. Its construction is as complex as the rest of the watch- the cover and opening pushers are made of grade 5 Titanium whereas the inner folding clasp is made from grade 2 Titanium. Also, on the clasp cover there is embossed the Omega Speedmaster Professional marking.

The model is powered by Omega’s multi-functional quartz chronograph movement, Calibre 2619 which is a revolutionary mechanism created based on the invention of an ESA astronaut named Jean -François Clervoy. This unique quartz movement is fitted with a thermo-compensated integrated circuit and was produced under an ESA patent license.

The Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 Solar Impulse is a limited edition model that celebrates Omega’s amazing collaboration with the famous Solar Impulse project which planned to circle the planet in a sun powered airplane. Reconfirming the brand’s half-century achievements in space explorations, the watch has also been tested and certified by the European Space Agency (ESA).

The black central LCD display of the Omega Speedmaster Impulse is completed by the skeletonized black and white hour and minute hands. The central seconds hand is colored in a distinctive green and black combination that is meant to enhance legibility. The analog hands and the LCD window display a series of very interesting functions such as three different time zones, PET (Phase Elapsed Time), MET (Mission Elapsed Time), timer, chronograph, perpetual calendar and three alarms.

At the inside of the watch we find the impressive quartz chronograph movement, OMEGA calibre 5619. This is a very precise thermo-compensated multi-functional quartz movement that offers special functions that were designed, tested and certified by ESA.

The Speedmaster Solar Impulse comes with lightweight grade 2 titanium 45 mm case and a uniquely designed bezel with a chromium nitride scale whose minute track scale is enhanced by white Super-LumiNova indexes. The body of the watch weighs only 59.50 grams and is fitted with a blue polyamide “NATO” strap with a green border. Furthermore, on the exterior of the grade 2 Titanium case back there are embossed the Solar Impulse “Around the World” marking and the words “TESTED AND QUALIFIED BY ESA”.

Omega decided to produce only 1924 Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 Solar Impulse pieces.  This number is reminiscent for the year when the first aerial circumnavigation of the world was completed. Needless to say, the model has been received with great enthusiasm both by space explorers and collectors of rare and remarkable timepieces.
